Limerick Garden Festival 2019 Coming to the Milk Market this Month

The Limerick Garden Festival is returning for its second year this month. The festival will feature an exciting plant, a garden and food market with over 50 spaces from all over Ireland, all-day garden expert talks and all things gardening. The festival will also be a hands-on event featuring several workshops and demonstrations. And it will be a food event, of course, featuring artisan food at the Milk Market.

Limerick has a long history and a great passion for gardens and gardening. A stand-out historical example in the city is, of course, William Roche’s Hanging Garden built in 1808. Today, gardening is equally very much loved in Limerick with garden groups thriving all over the city and county and amazing visitor gardens open to the public.

This year, the festival’s organisers are getting an expert in festivals and horticulture to join the event. None other than Bord Bia’s Bloom manager Gary Graham will be the headline Garden Expert on the festival stage. Gary said, “I am delighted to see a new garden festival establishing itself in a key location in the West. An urban counterpart to the often park or rurally held festivals is a great addition to the annual calendar of Irish garden festivals and the team behind it is experienced and innovative. I wish them the very best of success and look forward to speaking on their expert’s stage.”

Chairman of the Milk Market Trustees, Liam Flannery said, “It’s a huge pleasure to welcome Gary Graham in Limerick who will speak about ‘How to create your Own Super Garden’ aligned to the Supergarden TV show. Our Garden Festival is continuing after a very successful launch last year and we look forward to welcoming gardeners and their families and friends. In 2018, the festival saw over 1000 visitors including experienced gardeners, garden novices and families. 50 stalls joined the festival from near and as far as Dublin and Wexford.

Festival manager Carmen Cronin said, “The festival saw a great variety of stalls and we have many returning with a strong contingency of new stalls also in particular in our upgraded food area this year running in a food court style.”

The Limerick Garden Festival will be held on Sunday, June 16 from 11 am at Milk Market, Limerick. For any queries contact Carmen Cronin, Festival manager at [email protected] or 087 6117538.
