Exida specialises in functional safety, industrial cybersecurity, and alarm management, and will be opening in Shannon’s Gateway Hub, supported by IDA Ireland. They provide customers with tools to reduce the time and costs of compliance, coaching, and training, life cycle services, and independent assessments.

Exida IRL Director, Iwan Van Beurden, has confirmed that the initial hiring is already completed for the Shannon office and the total staff count would be increased to twenty-five over the next three to five years.

Their Chief Executive, Chris O’Brien, said there were several factors that led them to the decision of the company choosing Shannon for its European base including the strong local talent pool to recruit from, support from the IDA Ireland and proximity to the European market.

Welcoming Exida’s decision to locate it’s new Centre of Excellence in Shannon, Tánaiste and Employment Minister Leo Varadkar said that as a world leader in a highly specialist field, Exida is a welcome addition to the business ecosystem in the Midwest. The type of workers they are looking for will be highly skilled, Tánaiste Leo Varadkar confirms.

IDA Ireland’s Chief Executive, Martin Shanahan, told us that due to travel restrictions imposed as a result of the Covid pandemic, the US-based team at Exida experienced Shannon and the Mid West’s unique value proposition and pro-business environment, through IDA Ireland’s Remote Site Visit hub.

Exida also provides tools to automotive, robotics, and machinery equipment manufacturers as well as pharmaceutical, chemical, petro-chemical, oil, gas, subsea, metals and mining, pulp, paper, and power utility customers.

The company, which is headquartered in Sellersville, Pennsylvania has performed more process control safety certifications than any other company worldwide.

Shannon and the whole Midwest are delighted to welcome Exida to the region!
