Over 100 tourism businesses from counties Clare and Limerick this week attended a Fáilte Ireland Industry Networking Event in The Stand Hotel, Limerick

Fáilte Ireland Industry Networking Event was organised to strengthen collaboration between tourism businesses from both counties, encouraging them to work together to attract more visitors, extend stays and boost local spending. Face-to-face networking sessions took place among the tourism businesses, providing them with the opportunity to forge new connections and renew old ones.

This is the third year that Limerick and Clare have come together to collaborate on tourism, and as the first hosted in Limerick, the event was proudly supported by Limerick City and County Council.  

Wild Atlantic Way Manager Margaret Jenkins shared updates on upcoming local Fáilte Ireland initiatives and highlighted the benefits of cross-collaboration and joint promotion to help attract more visitors to the area.

Roz Purcell shared insights into how local businesses can use content to promote sustainable tourism. She shared tips on boosting social media engagement and real-life examples of how local storytelling and community involvement play a central role in shaping authentic travel experiences and set destinations apart.

Speaking at the event, Margaret Jenkins, Manager Wild Atlantic Way with Fáilte Ireland, said, “We were pleased to see so many tourism businesses from Clare and Limerick taking time out of their busy schedule to attend our networking event here at The Strand Hotel.  Both counties are well-established and popular destinations, offering rich experiences for domestic and international visitors alike.

“By combining the advantages of Clare and Limerick into a unified offering, travellers can enjoy a greater variety of accommodation, attractions, and activities to fit every taste and budget, encouraging them to explore further, stay longer, and spend more.”

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
