Tait House Community Enterprise (formerly known as Southill House) is a community development co-operative whose mission is to generate enterprise, employment and training opportunities including the provision of services for the people of Limerick. Established in 1985 it was originally located in Galvone Industrial Estate and is currently based on the Roxboro Road. Tait House Community Enterprise is implementing a new strategic plan for 2014 and the centerpiece is to support social and economic regeneration by accelerating the development of new businesses and services by establishing a Community Enterprise Centre with incubation space for start – ups. One of the services they offer is a crèche and nursery and they recently held a Family Fun Day to raise funds for a soft play area for their childcare facilities. The days activities included face painting, a bake sale, a chance to meet a local firemen, a raffle, refreshments and music from the band Acoustra. Currently there are over 110 children under 6yrs of age accessing their services with little dedicated outside play equipment which is central to healthy growth and development of every child as young children need the broad experiential base provided by the great outdoors. Outdoor activity provides children with the opportunity to engage in physical activity, to move freely with abandon and to shout and raise their voices without restriction. So far they have raised €11,000 however they are still a bit away from the €20,000 target needed to complete the project. For info on Tait House Community Enterprise contact [email protected].

Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
