Family Tree Crèche in Limerick Enterprise Development Partnership‘s (LEDP) building, Roxborough, was bursting with excitement as children, parents, and staff celebrated Christmas 2025 with a special visit from Santa Claus, a highlight of the festive season for the group.

Family Tree Creche Manager, Niamh Cagney, told I Love Limerick that excitement had been building throughout the week for the highly anticipated visit of the big man himself, Santa Claus.

Niamh said, “ We have a very special Santa Claus who comes to us. All the children are really excited. All the kids are literally talking about it all week, it’s a wonderful Santa who comes here every year.”

The Santa Experience was made extra special as the staff welcomed parents who were delighted to share the experience. Niamh highlighted how fortunate Family Tree Creche is to have the support of LEDP to create the festive atmosphere, as well as the renovation and improvements which have taken place throughout 2024 and 2025.

She said, “We are very lucky to be funded here by LEDP. We have newly refurbished the whole creche in 2024. We have new floors, new bathrooms, a new staff room, new play areas outside, and we are in the process of developing a new sensory room at the minute, which will hopefully be done in the new year.”

Recently, the Creche unveiled new solar panels, which will make the building more energy efficient. The newly unveiled installation forms part of the delivery of LEDP’s strategic objectives, which aim to embrace the UN Sustainable Development Goals and proactively reduce the organisation’s environmental impact whilst inspiring community awareness around climate action.

Describing Family Tree Crèche as a vital community facility, Ms Cagney said it caters for families across the area, saying, “ This creche is a brilliant facility. It caters for all the community’s families. It is a great facility for the community, providing a safe, caring environment for children where they can thrive. It also provides opportunities for parents on the south side of the city to gain employment, and we’re so lucky to be funded by LEDP.”

Niamh wished everyone season’s greetings, saying, “ I’d like to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the staff here in Family Tree Creche at LEDP Roxborough. See you next year. Merry Christmas!”

Established in 2005 by LEDP to provide opportunities for parents on the Southside of the City to gain employment, Family Tree Crèche caters for children from 3 months to 5 years in a purpose-built facility over 4,000sq ft. in size. The Crèche has a dedicated team of 16 who have many years of experience in working to enhance the development of children.
