Mark van Niekerk, Managing Director, Fastway, said: “I am immensely proud that we have been able to present two cheques to two exceptional charities; Cliona’s Foundation and Marie Curie, as a result of our most recent Pedal 4 Paul cycle. Cliona’s Foundation provides financial assistance to families of children with life-limiting illnesses and expects at least 200 families will apply for financial assistance this year and will need to raise a minimum of €500,000 to meet these applications. While Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end-of-life charity, providing frontline nursing and hospice care, a free support line offering a wealth of information and support on all aspects of dying, death and bereavement.”

They added, “Fastway’s steadfast commitment to CSR underscores its core values and vision of being a responsible corporate citizen. I want to say a heartful thanks to my colleagues, Courier Franchisees, and suppliers who, over the last number of years, have given their time and expertise, for voluntary activities.  Indeed since 2021, Fastway has donated and contributed €116K to charities, non-profit organisations, and community initiatives, the length and breadth of Ireland. We are an organisation with deep roots in local communities, so it’s only fitting, that our CSR activities positively impacts local communities, creating a legacy of compassion and goodwill.”

Darren Sheahan, Marketing Communications Executive, Cliona’s Foundation said: “We are delighted to receive such fantastic support from Fastway. The monies donated will go a long way in helping families with the non-medical costs that they face while their child is suffering with a life-limiting illness. We have already supported 88 families this year up to the end of April at a cost of €217,000, and expect to support 200 families in total before the year end. In the absence of ant government funding donations like this are really critical for us and very much appreciated. Thank you to everyone who went the  distance including the father & son duo  George & Jordan Daly who are continuous supporters of Cliona’s through various fundraising initiatives.“
