The Christmas Craft Market is the next event on the seasonal calendar for the school. Ms.Bailey and her TY Class pictured here at the Hallowe’en Games event they organised recently

Organised by Ms.Bailey and her TY Social Development class, the event promises to bring the community together in the spirit of Christmas cheer. With over 45 unique stalls and a heartwarming festive atmosphere, this market is a must-visit for families and shoppers alike.

Ms.Bailey explained the inspiration behind the initiative: “We wanted to create a warm, festive atmosphere in Kilmallock and provide a platform for our students, local primary school children, and the local community to showcase their talents. It’s all about celebrating creativity, supporting local, and bringing everyone together.”

The market boasts an impressive variety of crafts and gifts, including handmade Christmas decorations, jewellery, crochet blankets, personalised dolls, botanical casts, and much more. Visitors can browse a delightful array of unique items such as dog jackets, teapot covers, art frames, scented plaster ornaments, home décor crafts, and even rebar Christmas trees. Foodies will be delighted with stalls offering crepes, cupcakes, cookies, honey, marmalade, and mulled wine, alongside festive beverages like hot chocolate, tea, and coffee.

Local primary school students and craftmakers from the area will join forces with Coláiste Iósaef’s talented secondary students and staff to make this event truly special. The Transition Year and LCA students will also feature their own creative stalls, including handmade wreaths and items they’ve worked on during class. Ms.Bailey shared her pride in the students saying “It’s wonderful to see the creativity and effort our students have poured into this market. They’ve worked so hard, and we’re excited to see the community’s response.”

The evening promises more than just shopping. Families can enjoy a visit from Santa Claus, live festive music, and the warm glow of community spirit. And for those excited about tuning into the Late Late Toy Show, this market is the perfect pre-show event to get into the holiday mood.

Entry to the Christmas Craft Market is free, making it an accessible and enjoyable outing for everyone in the community. Ms.Bailey encouraged locals to come out and support the initiative: “This is a chance to support local businesses and students while enjoying a fantastic festive evening. We can’t wait to see everyone there!”.

Mark your calendars for December 6th and come along to Coláiste Iósaef for an evening of holiday magic. Shop local, soak in the festive spirit, and kick off your Christmas season with a celebration of community and creativity.
