Fidget Feet are set to bring an aerial feast for crowds at Riverfest 2026 this May bank holiday, with ‘The Song of Amairgen’ being staged at Redemptorist Church car park on Saturday, May 2

Fidget Feet, the national company for aerial arts in Ireland, is bringing an aerial feast for the eyes to Limerick this Riverfest weekend with a staging of ‘The Song of Amairgen’ on Saturday, May 2.
The free show marks a major highlight of this year’s Riverfest programme and is set to take to the skies behind Redemptorists Church in Limerick City from 9pm. The Song of Amairgen invokes our Celtic myths and legends, filling the air and deepening our universal hearts. Look up as the sky becomes a stage with performers soaring above the Limerick skyline from two towering cranes, suspended an exhilarating 35 metres in the air.
Chantal McCormick, Executive Artistic Director at Fidget Feet, told I Love Limerick, “We are so thrilled to be back at the River Fest this year, and this show is full of all the Fidget Feet madness. Two cranes, fireworks, pyros, people hanging off bicycles!”
Chantal noted that this year’s performance brings special guests with Volkidána, saying, “This year we’re collaborating with Volkidána, which is a street and fire show. So we’ll have lots of that happening in the show as well. And it’s commissioned by the RiverFest, Limerick City, and County Council, and this year we’ve got funding from the Arts Council as well.”
The show is inspired by Celtic mythology and draws from what is believed to be the first Celtic Irish poem ever written. This ancient text forms the creative foundation for the performance, which explores themes of nature, land, people and the Celtic spirit.

“This year, we actually found a poem that was the very first Celtic Irish poem ever written. So we’re using that as inspiration. That’s why we’re calling it The Song of Amairgen. And it’s all about Celtic mythology. As Celtic people, we tune into nature. That excitement of connecting to the land, to the people, to the Celtic heart,” she said.
The large-scale outdoor performance is described as the company’s biggest spectacle show in its 28-year history.
The Executive Artistic Director explained, “What’s been great is this time we’ve got two weeks of rehearsals with all the cast and crew here,” before adding, “ This is going to be Fidget Feet’s biggest ever spectacle show in the 28 years of existence. So, Limerick, we really want you to come to see our show. There’s room for thousands of you. So we are suggesting that all you lovely Limerick people arrive early, and we’ll have a DJ to keep you entertained while you wait. We’ll see you there!”
The show promises mesmerising aerial performances, spectacular special effects and fire performances set to specially composed music mixed live by DJ Jym Darling on Saturday, May 2 at 9pm, at the Redemptorists Church Car Park as part of RiverFest 2026.
