“Bus Éireann is proud to support Mid West Simon Community with our “Fill a Bus” appeal this year,” said Brian Connolly, Senior Regional Manager, West.

“We are at the heart of the community here in the Mid West, carrying over 6.5 million passengers in the region this year. The generosity of the local community exceeded our expectations last year, we received thousands of items – filling the bus from top to bottom. he donations make a huge difference to those in need and we hope to build on that success again this Christmas. Please come and join us at Childers Road Shopping Centre on Tuesday,17 December to support those in need”.

In addition to this initiative, Mid West Simon Community has announced a partnership with the Limerick and Shannon Rotary Club for the Remembrance Tree Initiative, which will be located in the Jetland Shopping Centre from December 9th to 15th.

Visitors are invited to make a donation, write a heartfelt note in memory of someone special, and hang it on the tree.

This beautiful tradition not only celebrates loved ones but also helps raise vital funds for the Mid West Simon Community. The group are also encouraging participation from schools, clubs, and organisations this Christmas to amplify the impact of these campaigns.

Speaking about the support, Mid West simon said, “Every act of kindness and generosity will go directly towards supporting critical initiatives such as emergency accommodation, food banks, and our innovative Social Grocery, which helps tackle food poverty in the Mid-West region. The Mid West Simon Community is very grateful for everyone that has helped us this Christmas.”

This holiday season, your generosity can help us continue providing vital services such as Emergency and Transitional Accommodation helping to support individuals and families every day of the year as they transition out of homelessness.

As well as Permanent Housing which offers stable, safe homes with a wraparound support service for sustained independence; Food Banks deliver essential food items to everyone in need across the mid west; and Tenancy Sustainment & Support Services provides practical outreach assistance in managing homes and connecting to health and education services.

New Initiatives include the Social Grocery which launches soon as a social enterprise to provide affordable, nutritious food to improve health and well-being for those experiencing food poverty; and the Age friendly housing project which is tailored housing solutions for older adults experiencing homelessness, prioritising dignity and community to keep people in their community.
