Film Track is set to showcase and celebrate independent filmmaking through free events in Limerick
Film Track, a 3-day showcase of film screenings and talks celebrating independent filmmaking, takes place in Limerick from August 23-25.
Film Track is run by Innovate Limerick / Film in Limerick, in partnership with Wired FM, and with support from Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board and the National Talent Academies.
Highlights of the weekend include; a screening of locally filmed sci-fi thriller Woken, starring Erin Kellyman and Maxine Peake, an In Conversation event with filmmaker, Tadhg O’Sullivan and a One-Shot Filmmaking competition, with 10 teams filming one-shot mini-masterpieces in the city over the weekend. Limerick City promises to be the place to be for a packed weekend of film experiences.
Paul C. Ryan, Regional Film Manager at Film in Limerick said, “It’s a summer film experience with a difference, welcoming all aspiring and experienced filmmakers and musicians to the city for 3-days of film and fun.
“We have a great programme lined up and all the public events are free to attend. We are delighted to welcome so many industry guests to the city and to work with our partners to put the focus on developing the film sector in the region.”

Breakfast Club with Fresh Film and Emerging Limerick Filmmakers

Start off your Film Track weekend with breakfast and chat at ENGINE. Interested in the next generation of young filmmakers or want to find out more about getting involved? Come along to this free event and hear from past and current young filmmakers talk about their careers to date.
Young Filmmakers Showcase With Fresh Film & Emerging Filmmakers Limerick

Join FilmTrack to celebrate the future of Irish film in this special programme of new work curated by Ireland’s leading young filmmaker’s organisation – Fresh Film and acclaimed local film group – Emerging Limerick Filmmakers (ELF).
Fresh and ELF champion the next generation of filmmakers with a mission to empower young voices. Their work continues to win awards globally and to kick start the careers of some of our brightest talents.
Don’t miss this chance to experience their work on the big screen and to meet some of the young filmmakers.
The Graceless Age – The Ballad of John Murry screening
3pm, Belltable (90mins)
John Murry was on the cusp of greatness with his highly acclaimed album The Graceless Age (2013) when, addicted to heroin and creatively exhausted, he washed up on Irish shores a broken man. Now, he is ready to retrace his steps back into the dark heart of American life to face his difficult childhood, traumatic assault and resulting years of opioid addiction. Director Sarah Share (If I Should Fall From Grace) follows John’s journey from near death to redemption and a new zest for life and art through his outstanding music.

Premiere of the second edition of the Engine Shorts programme at the Belltable in Limerick, with six brand new short films by some of the best new talent around. Filmmakers will be present at the event, which will be followed by a reception event.

John Murry in Concert

Film track are thrilled to announce that John Murry will play live at The Record Room.
With deep, rich vocals and dark poetic lyrics he’s been compared to Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen. His debut album, “The Graceless Age”, was declared a masterpiece. Presented by Film Track in association with WiredFM.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 24
Breakfast Club with Women in Film and Television Ireland (WIFT) and Catalyst Film Festival

Join Film Track for breakfast on Saturday with special guest Dr. Susan Liddy from WIFT and Catalyst Film Festival as we look at the work of both organisations in developing the screen industries. They will also be joined by a guest WIFT member who will be in conversation with Susan.

A panel session on Getting Music on Screen, in Film and TV, designed for both musicians and filmmakers, the session, will look at how filmmakers can discover and license music, and how musicians can promote and place their music.
A panel of legal and music experts will guide you through the process and offer tips and strategies for success.
In Conversation with Director Tadhg O’Sullivan
3pm, ENGINE, Cecil St Upper (75 mins)
Acclaimed filmmaker, editor, sound designer and sound recordist Tadhg O’Sullivan in conversation on his career.
Tadhg is an artist and film-maker working primarily in non-fiction cinema. Often working with literary sources and cinematic archives, his films seek to evoke the timelessness of human experience, and to illuminate the present moment through ideas from the distant past. His feature film To the Moon had its world premiere recently at Venice Days and was selected for Telluride Film Festival 2020. Previous films Yximalloo (with Feargal Ward, 2014) and The Great Wall (2015) have screened at numerous major film festivals including FiD Marseille, MOMA Doc Fortnight, CPH:DOX, Dokufest Kosovo and been broadcast internationally.
WOKEN screening

A pregnant Anna (Kellyman) wakes up on a remote island of which she has no memory and to faces she doesn’t recognise. Forced to re-learn everything about the world, she will need to do all that she can to protect herself and her unborn child. Friel’s debut feature is a sci-fi dystopian thriller beginning with the human race on the verge of extinction.
The Screening will be followed by an in-person conversation with director Alan Friel and Producers John McDonnell and Brendan McCarthy from Fantastic Films.
Horror Shorts Screening at Cleeves

Experience a short film screening with a difference. Join us in the spooky surrounds of Cleeves factory, for a programme of genre-bending short films brought to you by Film in Limerick. Over 18’s only.

Join us on Sunday breakfast at ENGINE and meet our panel of Film Programmers, discussing all things festival distribution and answering your questions. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to better understand what film festivals are looking for and how to get your films to a wide audience.

BBQ with National Talent Academies & Film in Limerick
6pm, Location: adjacent to Nicholas Street (see signage on day)
Join Film Track on Sunday afternoon for a BBQ with Treaty Brewery, by the Castle, meet other crew, filmmakers and representatives from the National Talent Academies and Film in Limerick. They will also be screening the One Shot Films at the event.
