Irish Chamber Orchestra is delighted to welcome back the very charismatic German Violinist, Florian Donderer as it embarks on a tour before returning to Limerick on Saturday, October 15.
Enjoy another colourful palette from ICO, brimming with verve. Florian is renowned for his energetic style and sophisticated interpretations and is an amazing violinist. A vastly experienced chamber musician, Florian impressed ICO last November with his electrifying playing and his unique approach to music. He showcases one of Haydn’s early works, his much-loved Violin Concerto No. 1 which is brilliantly written with its radiant outer movements book-ending an exquisite Adagio.
Written in just ten days, Dvořák’s radiant Serenade for Strings, is one of his best loved works. It combines shimmering melodies with the infectious rhythms of Czech folk music. Performed by ICO, it is simply exhilarating.
ICO champions works by Irish composers and has a real affection for the remarkably atmospheric Hirta Rounds by David Fennessy. Described as a ‘composer of deep sensitivity, style, and a knack for doing imaginative things’, his mesmerising work describes the ethereal atmosphere of Hirta, an abandoned island on the remote St Kilda archipelago, Scotland.
The Limerick-based Irish Chamber Orchestra is resident at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick and is funded by The Arts Council of Ireland/An Chomhairle Ealaíon.
The dynamic Irish Chamber Orchestra mixes traditional repertoire with new commissions and collaborates with everyone from DJs to dance companies. ICO and Florian Donderer visit Limerick on Saturday, October 15.
