Focus Ireland presents Candlelight Christmas Concert at St John’s Cathedral

Focus Ireland is holding a Candlelight Christmas Concert in St. John’s Cathedral on the 8th of December at 7pm to raise funds for the charity’s services tackling the homeless crisis in Limerick and around the country. It comes as latest figures show that a record number of over 2,400 children and nearly 1200 families are homeless nationwide.

Focus Ireland has provided homeless services in Limerick since 1998. By taking part in the Candlelight Christmas Concert participants will raise vital funds to help Focus Ireland reach even more children, families and individuals experiencing homelessness in Limerick this Christmas.

Candlelight Christmas ConcertSpeaking ahead of the Candlelight Christmas Concert Rebecca Reynolds, National Fundraising Initiatives Manager at Focus Ireland said, “Fundraising events like this are crucial to helping our services cope with the ever increasing demand for our services in Limerick. Sadly, many families and individuals will be without a home this Christmas – it’s a particularly difficult and stressful time for families and children. Can you imagine having to explain to your little son or daughter that they don’t need to worry – Santa Claus will still find them this Christmas even though they have lost their home. Focus Ireland relies heavily on public support to fund our work and events like this help our frontline services support even more people who are homeless or at risk of losing their home. A total of 89c of every euro received goes to frontline Focus Ireland services.”

Performances on the night include: the Roxborough Children’s choir, The Limerick Homeless choir, Denny Bartley, the Focus Ireland’s High Hopes choir from Cork and The Limerick Gospel Choir. There will be an interval on the night with Christmas treats such as mince pies, tea/coffee and mulled wine being served. There will be a raffle with various spot prizes; top prize is a 2 nights Bed & Breakfast in a Deluxe room in the beautiful Killarney Park Hotel.
