Foot in the Door event will offers jobseekers the opportunity to work in the customer service and support sector. The event, organised by the Limerick Chamber Skillnet, will take place on Wed, Sept 2 at the Clarion Hotel on the Dock Rd, from 9.15am – 1.00pm.

Anne Morris, Network Manager at the Limerick Chamber Skillnet explains: “The aim of the ‘Foot in the Door’ event is to raise awareness among jobseekers about job opportunities and information on developing a career within a relevant sector. The day will provide an overview and insider’s view of the customer service sector, an insight into particular careers/jobs and an opportunity to make important contacts. Trainees will be provided with information on our future training courses – the majority of which are free to jobseekers.”

Jobseekers are encouraged to bring along their CV’s, local recruitment companies will be represented, if you wish to discuss your CV content, interview tips etc.  Some local businesses will be attending with an offering of their current vacancies, their potential candidate requirements & a peek into an employee’s career journey. There will be a chance for networking with tea & a chat. The Department of Social Protection will also be in attendance to discuss queries relating to payments & training.

The Limerick Chamber Skillnet is currently offering limited free places on their Jobseeker Support Programme (JSSP) commencing on Mon, Sept 28 this year. This is a six-week part time training programme plus two weeks work experience. The award for this programme is a QQI Level 5 in Customer Care.  If you are interested in this programme please register to come along on Wed, Sept 2, 9.15am – 1.00pm. There will also be an opportunity to upskill on the day with an additional workshop for jobseekers & employees, titled; ‘Enhancing your Personal Effectiveness & Tapping into your Potential’, with Donal Fitzgibbon.  The Limerick Chamber Skillnet is funded by member companies and the Training Networks Programme, an initiative of Skillnets funded from the National Training Fund through the Department of Education and Skills.
