University Hospital Limerick receives €22,000 from Formal Friday

On Friday, April 24 Ireland’s biggest radio stations joined forces to raise money to support our frontline heroes by launching #FormalFriday. #FormalFriday has now donated €22,000 to each of the eight charities associated with frontline workers, including University Hospital Limerick.

Formal Friday

University Hospital Limerick has received €22,000 from the Formal Friday fundraiser.

Formal Friday called on the listeners of Today FM, Newstalk, 98FM, SPIN 1038, SPIN South West and Off The Ball to get dressed up, donate and post their picture on social media. Hundreds of people around the country took part by dressing up in their wedding dresses, deb’s suits and best tux to support the fundraiser which will help the chosen charities to continue supporting their frontline workers.

As a result, #FormalFriday has now donated €22,000 to each of the eight charities associated with frontline workers, which are:

  • Mater Foundation: Supporting Frontline Staff in The Fight Against COVID-19
  • Beaumont Heroes Appeal
  • Together With Our Heroes: Temple Street and CMRF Crumlin
  • Mercy Hospital Foundation Cork
  • University Hospital Limerick
  • St James’s Hospital Foundation
  • Cork University Hospital Charity
  • Feed The Heroes.

Cian O’Flaherty, Co-Founder of Feed The Heroes said: “Feed The Heroes are delighted to have been a part of Formal Friday. These donations allow us to keep delivering meals to frontline responders across the country. Our meals ensure that teams working 12-14 hours in difficult environments are fuelled for the fight as we face down this virus. The meals aren’t just nutrition, they are a link to the rest of us who remain at home. They express our gratitude, our solidarity and support for the risks they face day in and day out.”
