Gavin James will bring his celebrated live show to the iconic King John’s Castle, Limerick, on Friday, June 5th, 2026, for a very special summer concert

Few singer-songwriters are as adept at capturing the intimate details of everyday life: love, heartache, loss and joy, as Gavin James, and now the Irish musician brings his live show to King John’s Castle on Friday, June 5, 2026.

From his early days busking and performing in pubs around Dublin, James honed a songwriting style rooted in emotional honesty and melodic strength, quickly earning attention at home and abroad.

Championing support from the likes of Ed Sheeran, alongside the release of his early recordings and his debut album Bitter Pill (2016), helped establish James as one of Ireland’s most successful modern singer-songwriters. Since then, his music has been streamed over three billion times worldwide, earning diamond and platinum certifications across multiple territories.

Renowned for a live show that is both uplifting and deeply personal, Gavin James has sold over 250,000 tickets globally, building a devoted international fanbase drawn to his powerful vocals and heartfelt performances.

In autumn 2023, James returned with the single “White Noise”, marking a new creative chapter. Featuring a deeper vocal register and an expanded sonic palette, the track serves as a precursor to a forthcoming album of original material, currently being recorded in a studio set high in the mountains outside his home city of Dublin.

Set against the historic backdrop of King John’s Castle, this Limerick date promises an unforgettable open-air performance from one of Ireland’s most beloved artists.

 Speaking ahead of the announcement, Mick Dolan said:

His songs resonate deeply with people, and his live performances are always something special. Bringing him to King John’s Castle for a summer show in Limerick feels like the perfect setting, and we’re delighted to have him back.”                

Tickets go on sale Friday, December 19 at 10 am and will be availabel online from Dolans.ie                                                                                    

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
