Glenstal Creamery Butter landed top spot at the 10th Blas na hEireann an Michelin Irish Food Awards in Dingle last week.

Glenstal Irish Creamery Salted Butter is made at Abington Rectory in Murroe, Co. Limerick and is traditionally churned and wrapped in parchment paper.

The Glenstall Creamery Butter earned the highest marks of more than 2500 entries at the national food competition held in West Kerry.

Gareth Coleman from Glenstal Foods said: “This accolade is testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and supplier members. We like to think our butter is one of the creamiest, naturally spreadable and tastiest available”.

He added: “There are just two ingredients, cream and a pinch of salt. This resonates positively with today’s health-conscious consumer.”

Artie Clifford, Blas na hEireann Chairperson said: ““What are we famous for? Our dairy. I know this product because I buy it. The quality is supreme. It reminds me of the butter I knew as a child.”

This is the 10th year running of the Blas na hEireann an Michelin Irish Food Awards, the largest blind-tasted food awards in Ireland.

The awards recognise and celebrate the very best Irish food and drink with over 400 finalist producers competing in 130 categories. Glenstal Creamery Butter also took home the Best in Munster award for its butter product.

Other category winners from Limerick include Rigney’s Farmhouse in Curraghchase with their Granola with Goji Raisins and Flame Raisins and Amodeo Salad Dressing from Sabrina Amodeo of Tuscany Bistro.

Milk Market vendor Theresa Storey from the Green Apron was also a category winner for her Irish Whiskey Mustard while Moonriver Chocolate won bronze for their Sweet Pudding Spice Drinking Chocolate.
