Glitzi Bitz set to close its doors for a final time following almost 14 years in the Cruises Street location
Glitzi Bitz has announced it will close its doors one last time on Cruise’s Street in Limerick City Centre, following 14 years on the street, as the fashion store announces a new website.
The retailer, celebrating 38 years in business, announced its plans to close the city centre store in November, returning for a short time after the Christmas period.
Due to demand, the store will reopen for its final time in Limerick on Friday, 23rd, and Saturday, 24th, to give shoppers one last chance to pick up a bargain before the retailer makes its move online.

Making the announcement, the company posted on social media, “I had hoped to do online and retail side by side in Limerick and Tullamore, but sadly that just wasn’t viable. It’s not goodbye — just see you later on line and in person in Ennis.
This week, they announced they would open for the final time in Limerick, with owner, Sharon Conway, saying, “Due to demand, we’re opening the Limerick Store Friday & Saturday 10 to 5 for the last two days before we clear the shop for good and leave the unit. Loads of stock now further reduced!”
In a statement shared on social media, the owner noted for the past 38 years the store had been her “life, passion, and purpose”.
She said, “This shop has seen generations grow, fashions change, and friendships form. It carried long days, hard lessons, proud moments, and more memories than I can count.
“It’s the end of a chapter written with heart, courage, and determination. I’m deeply grateful to every customer, supplier, and friend who walked through the door and made it what it was. On to the next chapter of my life and my online journey with Glitzi Bitz.”
Operations will now move fully online, with the business thanking the Limerick Local Enterprise Office for its support in developing a new website and helping the transition to e-commerce.
Sharon shared a message with her supporters saying, “ I just want to say thank you to all our customers, we’re after closing the doors for the last time. A bit emotional at the moment, but I’m just so, so tired. I’m just looking forward to going home to have a glass of wine and thank you for all the flowers, the messages, all my friends through the years that have been good, good, good customers that have called in as well.
“So thank you from the bottom of my heart, but watch this space because I will be doing it all virtually. Thank you so much.”
