Fitness guru Leanne Moore makes business debut with Go Gym Limerick

By I Love Limerick Correspondent Maxine Bramley

Limerick journalist, turned You’re a Star winner, turned fitness guru and blogger, Leanne Moore has had quite the busy year as her newly opened gym GO Gym Limerick proves to be a massive hit with the public. She can now add a further title, successful businesswoman, to her resume.

I had the chance to sit down with the lovely and down to earth fitness sensation to talk to her about her journey to becoming a successful business owner in an industry she truly loves.

Until the age of 30, Leanne worked in a completely different industry as a journalist which she enjoyed but which was causing her more stress than she ever needed and wanted. However, she has always had a great love for health and fitness and going to the gym was her way of destressing.

It was only when Leanne started going out with her now fiancé, David Behan, who is a fitness instructor, that the prospect of starting a career in fitness crossed her mind.

“He [David] was the person to say, ‘you can make this a career, why would you not make what you really love doing your career.’ It never clicked in my head before and long story short I went and trained as a personal trainer and here three years down the line, I’m still doing it and I love it,” Leanne tells me.

Leanne’s’ fiancé David and his business partner already have a successful Go Gym open in Greystones Wicklow, and when talks of opening a new gym sprouted Leanne jumped at the chance for Go Gym to open in Limerick, her hometown. The plans were three years in the works, with a lot of hard work stress and sleepless nights but Leanne couldn’t be happier to start this new chapter of her life.

“We put the wedding on hold, put the mortgage on hold, the whole lot on hold in order to open Go Gym Limerick and it’s only early days but it’s been going so well. We’ve amazing members, the loveliest people you will ever meet, and we have the most incredible staff,” Leanne said.

“It’s also been kind of something special to be able to open my first business at home as well. Even though I don’t live here anymore I kind of have an internal reason to be here,” she adds.

Go Gym Limerick in Coonagh Road is open Monday to Sunday and offers 10,000 square feet of gym floor with over 70 pieces of plate loaded, free weights & cardio equipment and over 30 classes weekly.
