Gospel Rising Festival 2014 is coming to Limerick

The 5th Annual Gospel Rising Music Festival is coming to Limerick from 9-11 May 2014, with our own local crew the Limerick Gospel Choir hosting the proceedings with the Gospel Rising Team. Lindsay Rountree of the Gospel Rising Team told me Limerick stood out as the best location for 2014 due to the love of music in the city, the fantastic venues & accommodation here, along with the enthusiasm of the Limerick Gospel Choir.

This national festival, supported by the Arts Council, is aimed at music lovers from all backgrounds and will have workshops (with national and international workshop facilitators being brought to our city) for those wishing to develop some gospel music sounds or indeed try them out for the first time. Gospel Rising ‘14 will also feature performances around the City over the weekend, with a gala concert on Saturday evening. A family fun day is being organised for those with kiddies who would like to get on board too! So whether you sing in the shower, in a choir or just enjoy listening to some good music, this is the festival for you to embrace your inner Whoopie!

Celine Ryan, secretary of the Limerick Gospel Choir reminded me that the Gospel Rising website contains all information you will need to see updates on the scheduling of events, please go to www.gospelrising.com to see more. This contains info on accommodation, workshops and performances.

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
