Call for Applications for Grants Under the Arts Act Scheme

The Limerick Arts Office has announced it is now seeking applications from individual artists or organisations under the Grants Under the Arts Act scheme.

The annual scheme offers grant funding to amateur, community or voluntary groups, or organisations, and individual arts practitioners who stimulate public interest in the arts, promote the knowledge, appreciation and practice of the arts or assist in improving the standards of the arts.

All Grants Under the Arts Act applications will be considered by an independent selection panel, appointed by the Arts Office of Limerick City and County Council.  The selection panel will meet to assess and make recommendations on all eligible applications.  Their recommendations will then go before a Limerick City and County Council meeting for approval.

The closing date for applications is 5.00pm Tuesday 28 February 2017.

Sheila Deegan, Arts and Culture Officer with Limerick City and County Council explained: “In the Grants Under the Arts Act, the arts are defined as painting, sculpture, architecture, music, film, drama, dance, literature, design in industry and the fine arts and applied arts generally.  The awards can be used for the professional development of artists, the arts and/ or increasing access and participation in the arts.”

“Limerick City and County Council will consider applicants based in Limerick and who operate substantially within Limerick city and county and whose work is in line with the Limerick Cultural Strategy objectives.  This is a competitive fund and we expect a large number of applications.  If in the meantime you need advice or support, please contact us in the Arts Office.”
