There are a total of eleven nominated charities for this year’s run.

This year’s Great Limerick Run will be taking place virtually on the May bank holiday weekend, from May 1 – May 3.

With the weather becoming increasingly better coming up to the Summer months, now is the time to get out there in the sunshine and run for a charity of your choice. There are 11 nominated charities this year that receive €5 from every sign up for the run but you can also set up a fundraising page for a charity of your own choice. Many charities such as Children’s Grief Centre Limerick are offering to send t-shirts so you can represent them on your run.

The Great Limerick Run 2021 has something for everyone including a virtual marathon, a 20 Mile, a half marathon, 10 miles, 10km and 5km. You can complete your respective distance at your leisure and in your own locality while adhering to government guidelines and public health advice.

The 11 nominated charities include Focus Ireland, ADAPT, St. Vincent De Paul, Breast Cancer Ireland, Limerick Animal Welfare, Pieta House, Saoirse Addiction Treatment Centre, Cliona’s Foundation, Limerick Hospice, Limerick Suicide Watch and the Samaritans.

The Great Limerick Run team said on social media, “We are so delighted to once again be in a position to support so many charities for this year’s Great Limerick Run Virtual event. So far, we have raised an amazing €61,806 for these charities. Your efforts are going a long way and every cent counts! We have 2 weeks and 2 days to the event and plenty of time to get your runners on and come out and support them. €5 from every entry is donated back to charity.”

Set a goal for yourself and sign up for this year’s Great Limerick Run. Tickets are €20 each with postage and packing and include goodies such as a medal and a short sleeve t-shirt (delivered by post).

The Great Limerick Run is proudly sponsored by Limerick City and County Council, An Garda Síochana and Limerick Sports Partnership.
