See Change, The National Stigma Reduction Partnership is rolling out a month-long national Green Ribbon campaign to get people talking openly about mental health problems.

A.B.C for Mental Health are holding a series of events in honour of Green Ribbon Month 2022 including holding Lunchtime Talks at the Hunt Museum on September 7, 14, 21, and 28.

A.B.C. for Mental Health are a Limerick organisation set up to promote a healthy and open attitude toward Mental Health. Since 2014, A.B.C for Mental Health has been organising talks and events in Limerick to promote Green Ribbon month. Their aims are to promote mental health awareness, reduce the stigma that is attached to mental health and network with all the different organisations so they can work together to support people who experience mental health difficulties.

The event lineup truly has something for everyone as throughout the month they are running many different workshops including reiki meditation, acupressure point therapy, kinesiology, art therapy and much more.

Saturday, September 10 is World Suicide Prevention Day. In Arthurs Quay Park, a candlelit vigil will be held from 7:30 pm – 9 pm to honour those who died by suicide.

World Suicide Prevention Day is an opportunity for the community to join with the International Association for Suicide Prevention by focusing public attention on the need to increase suicide prevention awareness locally.

The theme of Green Ribbon 2022 is shame. Across the month, See Change will explore what shame is, how shame presents itself and how shame impacts people with mental health difficulties.

The tagline for the Green Ribbon 2022 campaign is: There is no shame in having mental health difficulties.

Green Ribbon 2022 aims to reduce the stigma associated with mental health problems, create an open and positive environment for people, and promote greater understanding, acceptance, and support for people with mental health problems.

This month, A.B.C for Mental Health want people to get together as this is the first time full in-person events are underway in two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

They want to make a difference and have people be part of the events, the art exhibition, workshops and talks as it is so important to promote open conversations on mental health and to challenge the stigma attached to mental health problems.

Details including dates and prices of these workshops are listed on the official poster. Alone we can do little, together we can do so much!
