Griffith College Limerick continues to support learners across the Midwest by offering flexible, internationally recognised programmes, including its long-standing Professional Accountancy courses and the popular MBA delivered in partnership with Heriot-Watt University and Edinburgh Business School.
Speaking at the Limerick campus, Programme Director Richard Mullane introduced the college by saying, “Griffith College Limerick is a third level institution here in the heart of Limerick city. It’s been here for nearly 20 years and caters to students from all backgrounds, from countries all around the world.”
He manages both the MBA and the Professional Accountancy programmes, which remain central to the college’s offering. The MBA is designed specifically for working professionals seeking to progress into management roles. As Richard explained, “It’s designed around working professionals to give them the flexibility to study in the evening time and study at a pace that suits them.”
The MBA has been delivered at Griffith College Limerick for nearly 15 years. Richard described the typical learner as someone already established in their career but ready to move to the next level, “The program mainly caters to professionals who are interested in the next level up. So maybe they’re a doctor, a nurse, an engineer working in their fields for many years, but they’re interested in making that step up to management.”
The programme runs online/blended over two years, making it accessible to learners across Ireland. Richard outlined the structure, “All of our classes are online in the evening. There’s two modules per semester, and there’s nine modules in total, there’s no dissertation at the end of it either. It’s all assessment based, more like a project that a professional is going to be used to in their day to day life.”

Students can undertake the programme from anywhere in the country, and the flexibility allows them to balance study with work and personal commitments. They also benefit from becoming part of a global community through the college’s long-standing collaboration with Heriot-Watt University.
Richard explained the partnership, “We’ve been involved with Heriot-Watt University and Edinburgh Business School for nearly 15 years, and they’ve been an incredible partner to us. Heriot-Watt is the awarding body, so when a student finishes their MBA programme, Heriot-Watt will be the one giving them their award at the end. They can attend their graduation in Edinburgh if they’d like, or they can go to Dubai, Malaysia or any of the campuses that Heriot Watt has around the world.”
Graduates also become members of a global network, “They don’t just join Griffith College, they join the alumni of Heriot-Watt as well. Over 50,000 students who have graduated over the years, they can make connections here in Limerick, all around Ireland or anywhere around the world.”
For professionals in the Midwest, this means they can study locally while earning a globally recognised degree, combining the accessibility of a Limerick-based programme with worldwide opportunities through Heriot-Watt University.

The MBA welcomes applicants from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds, as well as those who’ve built their careers through years of hands-on experience. You don’t need a business degree to apply. Graduates benefit from both the Griffith College community and the international Heriot-Watt alumni network, offering strong prospects for professional growth and networking.
