GROW Officially Open New Extended Office

The official opening of GROW Expanded Community Mental Health’s new offices on Henry Street took place yesterday in Limerick.

The opening, which coincides with World Mental Health Week, was performed by the Mayor of the City and County of Limerick Cllr Stephen Keary, and GROW patron and former governor of Mountjoy Prison, John Lonergan.

Those in attendance at the ceremony included GROW’s CEO Michele Kerrigan, National Chairperson Rob Stephen, Regional Chairperson Tommy Kennedy, Mid-West Regional Manager James Quilligan, as well as staff and volunteers, representatives from the HSE, local health and community organisations among others.

The ceremony celebrated the opening of their extended offices at 33 Henry Street. GROW recently acquired a second floor of the building and now occupies both the ground and first floors. This has been made possible by the generosity of the JP McManus Benevolent Fund.

The JP McManus Benevolent Fund aims to support local community, healthcare and education initiatives, as well as non-profit organisations throughout the Mid-West region.

The extra building space has already enabled them to offer an additional weekly mental health support meeting, an ‘Enhancing Your Mental Health’ programme, as well as hosting HSE Service User Fora.

“Our sincere thanks and gratitude goes out to the JP McManus Benevolent Fund for their generosity and for supporting the ongoing, vital work of our organisation in promoting positive mental health and wellbeing,” said James Quilligan, GROW Regional Manager.

GROW is Ireland’s largest community-based mental health organisation and has been helping people on the road to mental health recovery for almost 50 years.

GROW holds 120 peer support group meetings in communities across Ireland each week including Limerick city and county. Meetings are free to attend and open to those aged over 18.
