Guaranteed Irish briefing reminds Limerick businesses of the need to prepare for the possibility of a no-deal Brexit

With the Brexit deadline on October 31st fast approaching, Guaranteed Irish is reminding business members across various sectors nationwide of the need to prepare for the possibility of a no-deal Brexit. Limerick’s Clayton Hotel was the venue for the business membership organisation’s most recent Brexit breakfast briefing and its inaugural event in the Mid-West.

The event, attended by business and thought leaders from a variety of sectors across Limerick and surrounding areas, highlighted the services and resources available to businesses when finalising preparations for a post-Brexit economy and how the Mid-West can be positioned as an ideal location for businesses to thrive in the years ahead.

The event included a panel discussion, which featured local experts. Speakers on the panel included:

Following the briefing, attendees had the chance to network and discuss concerns, challenges and opportunities with other Guaranteed Irish members and on a one-to-one basis with the panellists.

Senator Maria Byrne says: ‘Many local businesses’ imports come via the UK. In a no-deal Brexit, local customers could face significant price increases to cover potentially non-reclaimable UK VAT at 20 per cent, import duties, customs, additional certification requirements and logistical delays.

In light of this, businesses in the Limerick area can prepare for Brexit by working closely with Guaranteed Irish in a bid to safeguard jobs in their local communities and prepare necessary plans to meet the challenge of Brexit.
