Guaranteed Irish panel discussions with top Limerick speakers on post-Brexit opportunities in Mid-West

With the Brexit deadline on October 31 fast approaching, Guaranteed Irish is reminding business members across various sectors nationwide of the need to prepare for the possibility of a no-deal Brexit. The business membership organisation is working closely with business members in the Mid-West in preparation for a post-Brexit economy with an upcoming “Brexit- An Opportunity for the Midwest?” event at the Clayton Hotel, Limerick on October 23.

Guaranteed Irish currently has 17 business members in the Mid-West, including Carambola, Ishka Spring Water and Tippo. Together, the Guaranteed Irish network in the Mid-West supports over 840 jobs with an annual combined turnover of over €40 million to the local economy.

In October, Guaranteed Irish will mark the fast-approaching Brexit deadline with a breakfast briefing taking place on Wednsday, October 23 at the Clayton Hotel, Limerick from 8 am – 10:30 am.

Given the lack of clarity regarding the timing and format that the UK’s exit will take, Budget 2020 will be prepared on the assumption of a disorderly Brexit and will provide measures to ensure that businesses in Ireland are prepared to the greatest extent possible for a No Deal Brexit”

“Many local businesses’ imports come via the UK. In a no-deal Brexit, local customers could face significant price increases to cover potentially non-reclaimable UK VAT at 20 percent, import duties, customs, additional certification requirements, and logistical delays. In light of this, businesses in the Limerick area can prepare for Brexit by working closely with Guaranteed Irish in a bid to safeguard jobs in their local communities and prepare necessary plans to meet the challenge of Brexit”.
