Limerick’s only pumpkin patch is back! Curraghchase Garden centre will host its pumpkin pickin’ event from October 22-31.

With spooky season creeping up on us, Limerick is preparing to be filled with terror during a jam-packed month of ghoulish events in the lead up to Halloween.

I Love Limerick has compiled a list of things fun and frightening taking place in Limerick city and county, from children’s events to nights out, all with a hint of pumpkin spice!

FREAKY FESTIVALS

West Limerick Harvest Festival

West Limerick’s first harvest festival will celebrate the area’s delicious autumnal produce. Running from October 22-31, the festival will see a host of food events occur across the West of Limerick. From cookery demonstrations to spooky tours, cocktail parties to apple tart contests there will be something for all souls to enjoy!

Curraghchase Pumpkin Patch

Limerick’s only pumpkin patch is back! Curraghchase Garden centre will host its pumpkin pickin’ event from October 22-31. Sprinkle pumpkin fairy dust across the patch to find a delightful pumpkin to carve. Master carvers will be on hand to help out if you need a little inspiration! Warm up afterwards with a tea or coffee (and maybe a festive treat) from The Potting Shed Cafe.

Samhain at Bunratty

Bunratty Folk Park is hosting a traditional pagan Samhain festival from October 23-31. The event will showcase old Irish traditions from the time of Bunratty Castle’s medieval origin. Learn about the history and traditions of Samhain, visit the frightening fairy village and look out for creepy characters before entering the haunted castle… if you dare…

SCARE THE KIDS (or you know… don’t)

Halloween SpookTacular Science

King John’s Castle will play (g)host to a jam-packed display of spine-chilling science experiments on Tuesday & Wednesday, 26-27 October. From exploding lunch bags to slime monsters, science has never seemed so fangtastic!

Halloween at Lough Gur

Storyteller and historian Melissa Sheilds will host a spook-inspired activity and storytelling workshop for kids aged 5-12 at the Lough Gur Visitor Centre on the morning of October 31. For the hallo-teens in your life, storyteller Melissa will reveal the secrets of the Samhain in full costume from early afternoon. NOT for the fainthearted.

The Addams Family at University Concert Hall

A perfect Halloween afternoon treat (or trick?), The Addams Family will show at University Concert Hall, UL, on October 31 at 3 pm. The timeless supernatural comedy, first released in 1991, features the eccentric Addams Family, who are under threat from an evil doctor. Suitable for all the family!

FOR THE GROAN-UPS

Trick or Tease Cabaret

Sure to lift your spirits (ha!), The Wild Atlantic Cabaret presents ‘Trick or Tease’, a two-hour showcase of comedy, burlesque and music on Friday, October 29 at The Commercial. The show, hosted by The Wild Geese, will be followed by a Monster Mash after-party with prizes for the best costume, so dress up – or down!

Scare Factory at Cleeves

After a one year hiatus, Scare Factory is creeping it real by returning to the ultimate location to terrify their guests; the abandoned Cleeves Factory on the North Circular Road. No thanks! Enter at your peril from October 15 until Halloween night.
