Haven Hub Limerick is inviting people who may experience loneliness at Christmas time to join their volunteers for a Christmas dinner, promising ‘warm food, good company, and festive cheer’

The Haven Hub Limerick has announced plans to host a Christmas dinner as its volunteers are to give time on Christmas Day for people who may experience loneliness, loss, or exclusion this time of year.
Announcing their plans, Haven Hub said that although Christmas is a time for family, joy and celebration for many, others may experience loneliness, loss or exclusion.
This year, The Haven Hub volunteers have agreed to open the doors to a small group of people who struggle at Christmas and expect to spend it alone.
They said, “We want Christmas to be for everyone. If you don’t have anybody to join you at Christmas, then know that we want you at our table!”
The group has announced very limited availability of 10-15 seats at the Christmas dinner table, saying priority will be given to people with mental health challenges, people experiencing a difficult time and current Haven Hub Service Users.
Putting out the call to those who would like to spend their Christmas with the incredible group in Limerick, they said, “If you would like to be included this year and to be at our table on Christmas Day with good people, who also know what it is like to struggle, then click and fill out this form. We will let you know if we have a space as soon as possible”
Marking a busy period for the charity, Haven Hub looks forward to its Christmas Ball on Friday, December 12, in a bid to make the ball more accessible, the group announced it would be reducing its price to €50.
Taking place in the Clayton Hotel, the group said, “Join us for festive dining, live music and celebration while supporting suicide prevention and mental health services across the Midwest.”
Haven Hub is a volunteer-led mental health charity offering free, peer support and crisis services.
Founded in December 2019 by Leona Callaghan and Lesley Anne Liddane, Haven Hub was created in Limerick to provide late-night peer support for those experiencing emotional distress or suicidal thoughts. Our volunteers opened the first drop-in support centre to offer help during the critical hours.
In May 2021, Haven Hub officially reopened at a central location within the Bedford Row Family Project building, continuing our out-of-hours crisis cafe service with expanded capacity and visibility in downtown
By mid-2024, Haven Hub had completed over 790 peer-led interventions, expanded services into Ennis and delivered more than 150 evidence-based mental health courses.
