Nicholas Street will come alive with festive spirit on December 20 and 21 as the Treaty Xmas Fair comes to the historic street this Christmas, and as a major highlight of the fair, Limerick artist Hazey Haze will hold a special hometown celebration with a live performance for the release of his new album ‘For All The Island Field‘ on December 20 at 7 pm.

Speaking ahead of the upcoming release and special gig, Hazey Haze described the album as a deeply personal project recorded with Enda Gallery and Danny Lanham.

Hazey told I Love Limerick, “There are many stories, many sad stories, many trials, and many tribulations about life in The Island Field. Untold stories of the Island, and it’s a completely different genre for me. Completely different from what I’ve done before. So there’s no hip hop, there’s no rapping or anything like that. It’s just straight from the soul singing.”

After a decade in music, beginning as part of rap group Same D4Ence, Hazey went solo in 2018, releasing a number of hip-hop and rap albums, EPs, singles, and a collection of music videos. The Limerick artist’s new direction feels like a natural path for him, but he needed to grow in confidence to release them.

Hazey told Richard Lynch, “I’ve always kind of been leaning towards it the last few years. I used Songwrite years ago, but never had the confidence to sing it. I wasn’t a singer, I was a rapper, you know? But now in the last year or two, I’ve been just at home, practising and writing sad songs, and I think now it’s time to show Limerick, the album ‘For All The Island Field’.”

Through his rap music and now his folk singing, Hazey has paid homage to his community and city through all of his creations. He said, “Limerick to me is me. I’m from the island field, born and reared down the Island. It’s mise! It’s like everything I am built of, all the stories I know; how I act or how I react is all from being from the Island. All my stories come from there. From generations of generations upon everything. I’m a Limerick man, but first I’m an Island Field man.”

Showing his love for the area, Hazey Haze says his proudest moment is having his photograph hung in Stix cafe on Nicholas Street, saying, “ I used to go here after school to get Stix specials and whatnot, you know, and now to be on the wall, next to Phil Lynott, it’s amazing.”

Now, returning to the Medieval Quarter for this album launch, Hazey invites the entire city to join the celebration as part of the Treaty Xmas Fair.

Treaty Xmas Fair, taking place on Saturday, December 20, and Sunday, December 21, 2025, on the historical Nicholas Street.

With road closures transforming the Medieval Quarter into a pedestrian-friendly Christmas market, the festival is the perfect opportunity for local craftspeople, makers, and independent vendors to showcase their talents from 2 pm to 9 pm on Saturday and 2 pm to 8 pm on Sunday.

With community at its core, Treaty City Brewery is proud to create a space where locals can come together at such a magical time of year. This will be the largest fair ever hosted by Treaty City Brewery, marking a major moment for the Medieval Quarter. Vendor applications are now open. There is no cost for a stall, and vendors keep 100% of their earnings for the entire weekend. Those wishing to apply can email [email protected].
