Earlier this year Live 95 was delighted to announce that ‘Live 95 Helping Limerick Children 2020’ will raise funds and increase awareness around Limerick City and County for the children’s charity CARI.

This year their goal is to raise €25,000 for the charity and they have nearly reached that goal raising currently €23,000.

This Friday, December 4 they are asking for your help to fundraise while also having a little fun with it, they are asking that you upload a photo of yourself as a child on Friday, and then text HELPING to 50300 to donate €4 and then nominate your friends to do the same.

They announced this in May of this year, and now they are calling for everyone’s help to push their fundraiser just that little bit further this December so the children supported by CARI can continue to avail of its life-changing services.

CARI needs the funds to help with the day-to-day running of their charities and so this year they are taking their efforts online so that they can continue to offer their help to the children who need it. Through therapy, CARI offers children a supportive ally and a safe environment and instills hope, trust, and confidence allowing these children to return to the path of normal development and reach their full potential. CARI, like many other charities, has faced great financial difficulties this year due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Non-profit organisations all over Ireland are relying on the kindness of people and companies like Live 95 to keep their charities alive and helping the children of Limerick.

Over the past number of years, Live 95, Limericks market leading radio station has helped raise over €750,000 for Limerick-based Children’s Charities through the generosity of their listeners and the Limerick business community who organised events and gave generously of their time and money.

Speaking on Limerick Today, Mary Madden from Cari says, “During the lockdown our funding went, it really plummeted, but the problems became greater. Unfortunately, a lot of our children are locked up with their abusers, something akin to domestic abuse. Sexual abuse of minors is very, very, prevalent and our numbers have only escalated since the beginning of Covid. We really are dependent on the good people of Limerick City and County’s help and we really need this help.”

Amanda Flannery, Digital Content Producer at Limerick Live 95, said, “Given the year that’s in it, our goals are €25,000, and we’re currently at €23,000. We’d love it if you could join in on the Childhood photo challenge and help us reach our goal. Let’s help CARI to help children at risk in Limerick.”
