Limerick’s much-loved Hermitage Green celebrated the release of their latest album Connection with a launch party to remember at Treaty City Brewery

Limerick rock band, Hermitage Green, said in a recent social media post that releasing new music in the modern age “is always untypical”, and there was nothing typical about the band’s launch party for their latest album ‘Connection’ on Nicholas Street on Friday, September 20.
The event, held outside Treaty City Brewery on the historical Nicholas Street saw a crowd pack up the street from the doors of Treaty City Brewery to the entrance of King John’s Castle, enjoying food, drinks, great weather, and the Limerick band’s new music; all tying in with the free events on offer for Culture Night.
Longtime fans would have been happy to see the band take to the Limerick street, bringing an electric atmosphere to the medieval area and getting the chance to hear some tracks from the new record, produced by Cillian King, as the band moves in a more experimental direction which has been praised by fans new and old.
The new album brings a very different sound to the Hermitage Green archive with a more electronically driven melody, a giant step away from the guitar, piano, and smooth vocals the band is known for.
In August fans were given a taste of what is to come when the group released the “Plate Spinner” single from the album, teaming up with Limerick artist Bobby Fingers, setting the tempo for the album release with synthesizers blaring, a driving bass, and a beat that gets you moving.

The nine-track record sees the folk-rock band explore new sounds including electronic element and experimental undercurrent. ‘Signs’, the lead single from Connection is an upbeat dance track as the band said, “Electronic synths, sampled drums, and didgeridoo had become a huge part of our sound and so we naturally wanted to make an album that elevated these features.”
In the social media post announcing the album release, the group hinted at an upcoming tour as they asked for reviews “good or bad” to go alongside their “winter tour poster”. The band take their music in a different direction, but it’s a journey fans will happily join them on, ‘Connection’ is well worth the listen.
The band are just back from a US tour and will perform around Ireland in support of their new album. The tour includes a date at Dolans Warehouse in Limerick on December 31, 2024. Tickets information can be found here
