The Hope Foundation Lunch 2018 at the Savoy Hotel is a huge success

The Hope Foundation’s annual lunch, kindly sponsored by Northern Trust, took place on Friday 14th September in the luxurious surroundings of The Savoy Hotel in Limerick. The lunch was a celebration of resilience, solidarity and of course 19 successful years of HOPE’s work, improving the lives of vulnerable street and slum children in Kolkata India.

The Hope Foundation were delighted to welcome so many wonderful attendees and incredible special guests on the day including the 2018 International Rose of Tralee Kirsten Mate Maher, campaigner Vicky Phelan, Dr Sinead Kane and Georgia McGurk, who was recently announced as a Youth Ambassador for HOPE.  Georgia brought her mother Miriam O’Callaghan as her plus one, Miriam is herself a long-term patron of HOPE. We were also delighted to have been joined by two All-Ireland winning team members, Graeme Mulcahy and Sean Finn.  All of these individuals are the embodiment of what it means to persevere through challenging times and their messages to the attendees on the day were inspirational.

The speakers that afternoon were truly extraordinary with Vicky Phelan receiving a standing ovation. All of the special guests enjoyed a captivated audience, engaged in their every word.

All of the guests on the day, including HOPE Hon. Director Maureen Forrest spoke of their own challenging life journeys, the power of perseverance and of their appreciation for the message behind the work of HOPE.

Commenting on their sponsorship of the lunch, General Manager of Northern Trust, Catherine Duffy, discussed her motivation for becoming the main sponsor of the lunch: “The Hope Foundation do amazing work with the most underprivileged children in Kolkata.  Northern Trust are delighted to be supporting them and I am looking forward to welcoming everyone to this wonderful lunch which raises much-needed funds for their incredible work.  It is important for people from all walks of life to connect with, and support one another. This lunch will provide people and businesses in the mid-west with the opportunity to do just that.” said Catherine.

HOPE Hon. Director, Maureen Forrest would like to say a special thanks to all those who helped to organise the lunch, to Northern Trust, the volunteers and to all the amazing prize sponsors, those who support HOPE in whatever form they can.  Every ounce of support HOPE receives has the power to change a child’s life for the better, giving a future to a child who would otherwise have nothing.

It is through people’s continued support and generosity that we can all make a difference in a child’s life.

The lunch is one of the organisation’s key fundraising events and it raises much-needed funds for their ongoing work with the street and slum children in Kolkata, India.
