The Hunt Museum shimmered with cinematic elegance for a ‘Fashion & Hollywood’ evening where glamour met Irish design

The Hunt Museum shimmered with cinematic elegance on Thursday, 23 October, as guests gathered for Fashion & Hollywood, an evening celebrating the enduring relationship between film, fashion, and creative storytelling.
Inspired by the museum’s acclaimed exhibition From Dickie to Richard: Richard Harris – Role of a Lifetime, the event honoured the legacy of one of Limerick’s most famous sons, exploring how costume and character have shaped the silver screen.
Hosted by Eddie Shanahan, Chair of the Council of Irish Fashion Designers, with special guest Edel Cassidy, Editor of Anthology Magazine, the evening featured a captivating fashion showcase and panel discussion delving into cinema’s lasting influence on contemporary style. Four leading Irish designers, Sarah Foy, Helen Hayes, Sharon Hoey, and Ailish McElroy, presented three original looks each, inspired by iconic Hollywood films.
Their collections blended timeless glamour with modern craftsmanship, bringing the artistry of film costume into a contemporary Irish context. Guests enjoyed a sparkling reception and a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process that bridges the worlds of fashion and film.
The Fashion & Hollywood evening forms part of the Hunt Museum’s ongoing mission to celebrate creativity and connect audiences with the art of design, film, and culture. All proceeds from the event supported the Hunt Museum’s exhibitions and education programmes.
The Richard Harris Exhibition runs until 16 November 2025 at the Hunt Museum and has been accompanied by a public programme including film screenings, talks, and other special events.
