An impressive list of VIPs will attend the launch, including Limerick Person of the Year 2016, Katie Whelan and Mayor of the City and County of Limerick, Kieran O’Hanlon. Hunt Museum Monopoly Launch.

A member of the public will also be sought after to gain the title of an exclusive third VIP to open and play the first game of Limerick Monopoly.

The official game will feature Limerick landmarks and favorites starring in their very own squares on the board and is being billed as a “Love Letter to Limerick” by Winning Moves game boss, Jake Houghton.

“We are sure it’s the ultimate celebration of Limerick – the past, present, and future.” express Jake.

One of the very first boards to roll off the presses will be signed by all those on the board and will be displayed at the Hunt Museum, which boasts some of the world’s greatest exhibits from Picasso to Ireland’s greatest private collections of art and antiquities, dating from 8,000 BC to the present day.

“We are sure the board will prove to be this year’s Christmas must-have gift. Pre –orders have been coming in in huge numbers from retailers across Limerick.” continues Jake.

It is expected 30 Limerick landmarks will be used on the board, The Hunt Museum in Limerick tipped to have a high profile spot on the board.

“I can confirm the board will feature the great and good of Limerick, with The Hunt Museum taking a very prominent square. MONOPOLY is a nostalgic game that brings family and friends together, with not a phone or electric device in sight! I am delighted to be involved in creating this official Limerick version of MONOPOLY.” says Special Advisor to the board, Patrick O’ Neill.

Mr. O’Neill goes on to reveal that the board will be themed in sets, with The Hunt Museum heading up a Limerick ‘heritage’ set. Other sectors that will feature include: tourism, sports, travel, education, leisure and shopping.

In addition, two squares will be dedicated to two Limerick-based charities, following a public vote earlier in the year.

Last month a search for a ‘VIP’ from the public was launched. This ‘Very Important Player’ will get to open and play the first board to roll off the presses and since this announcement, there have been “a huge number of entries”, report Winning Moves UK.

Because of this great response, a runner-up too will now be invited to the launch as well and receive a VIP goodie bag. To be in with a chance of being the MONOPOLY Limerick VIP who receives the first board which will be signed and also a VIP goodie bag (or a runner-up) just email here titled ‘Why I should be the Limerick MONOPOLY VIP’ by September 30, 2016.
