Stacey Moylan, Sharon Mc Meel & Leonie Lynch braved the cold and undertook the now famous Ice Bucket Challenge in aid of IMNDA and also used it to launch the Limerick Bridal Ball this week. You can check out their video and screams at www.facebook.com/limerickbridalball

The Limerick Bridal Ball will take place on Sunday 26th October 2014 at 7.00pm in the Castletroy Park Hotel Limerick. All funds raised on the night will go to the Irish Motor Neuron Disease Association. The Ball will be part of the many events taking place for the Ladies Weekend – http://www.ladiesweekend.ie .

The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) is the only organisation of its kind providing care and support to people with Motor Neurone Disease, their families, friends and carers. Their services include home visiting by an MND nurse, financial assistance towards home care help and the provision of specialist medical equipment on loan free of charge to their clients. They also support research into the causes and treatment of the disease by providing grants towards scientific and medical research of the highest quality specific to MND.

Speaking about how the idea for the event came about, organiser Stacey Moylan said “At the end of last year, 2 very big things happened in my life. On Tuesday 29th of October I received the news my beautiful aunt was diagnosed with motor neuron disease, and on the following Saturday, November 2nd I got married.

After the wedding, I was certain of 2 things: I wanted to organise something to do a small part towards helping such a worthwhile charity as the IMNDA, and that I wanted to get back into that wedding dress! When I had the first thoughts of the bridal ball, I approached Sharon with the idea. She instantly loved it and when we discussed who we would run the event in aid of, well the choice was very simple. So the limerick bridal ball was born. This event has given me the opportunity to be proactive at a time when there is such uncertainty as I have seen the devastating effects of this disease”
The night will include a drinks reception, 5 course meal with wine, entertainment and a few surprises along the way. Tickets are priced at €65pp
