Limerick Fringe Festival 2018 presents In Search of the Spring

By ilovelimerick correspondent Zoe Conway

This year the Phoenix Theatre Co. returns to Limerick Fringe festival for the second year in a row with their newest production. In Search of The Spring, written by Andy Gallagher, takes the familiar childhood form of the fairytale and uses it to examine some distinctly adult themes – sexual health, alcoholism and relationship breakdown, to name just a few. In Search of the Spring combines bawdy comedy, live music, and classic story-telling to examine a few home truths about love, sex, and art.

The story of In Search of Spring focuses on three characters, Gilbert is a selfish, greedy boy with an itch, Bianca is a musical genius who enjoys a drink (or twelve) and Dido is the latest victim of the happily-ever-after trap. The three wandering souls, under the guidance of Gypsy Maggie (the Wise Woman of the Wood), form an unlikely alliance and set off into the forest in search of the one thing that just might be the answer to all of their problems. The play will be performed for three days during Limerick Fringe Festival, in the Belltable and is set to be a must-see play.
