Inspireland Creative Summer Camps give young people a space where they can feel safe, be creative, and build confidence in who they are

Inspireland Creative Summer Camps offer an inclusive space for young people to express themselves, try new techniques, and connect with others

This summer, Inspireland’s much-loved Art & Animation Camps return to Limerick, offering young people a welcoming, hands-on creative experience designed to inspire confidence and spark imagination.

Hosted at TUS, Moylish Campus, the camps are open to all levels of ability. No experience is needed — just a love of drawing, art, animation, comics, or all things creative. The camps focus on creativity over perfection and offer a relaxed space for young people to express themselves, try new techniques, and connect with others who share similar interests.

Parents can choose from two exciting options:

  • Digital Animation Camp for Teens (ages 13–18): June 30th – July 4th
  • Art & Animation Camp for Kids and Teens (ages 8–18): July 14th – 18th

The Digital Animation Camp invites young animators to level up their animation skills by teaching them how to animate using software and applications that mimic those used by the world’s top animation studios. We ask our students to bring laptops, and we provide them with drawing tablets. Tablets can also be used, although the applications and techniques used with laptops and drawing tablets give students a more professional animation experience.

The Art & Animation Camp introduces a different creative activity each day, including comic art, character design, illustration, bookmaking, and more. The atmosphere is friendly, low-pressure, and encourages exploration and creative freedom.

“Our camps are about more than art,” says Stephen Murray, director of Inspireland. “They’re about giving young people a space where they can feel safe, be creative, and build confidence in who they are. Being a creative in school is not always easy — the classroom is not always a safe space to be yourself. This is the opposite of that. We like to think of it as a pirate ship, where our differences and individuality are celebrated. We have a big ethos on making our students realise they are the heroes of their own story. Where the classroom or school can be a lonely place, this is a space where they really do find their tribe — and what a tribe they are.”

Many young artists attend on their own and quickly find their footing in an environment that values curiosity, expression, and connection.

“Nobody is singled out, compared to anybody else, put under the spotlight (unless they want it), or judged,” adds Stephen. “There are no labels or levels of ability. We teach them that everything they produce is valid, everything we create is beautiful. More than anything, we try to make them believe that they are brilliant, because they are, and we were all exactly like them. There is a lot of heart in what we do, and it provides an experience that we are super proud of.”

What parents say about the camps:

“Our daughter had ‘the best week of her life’ (her words!) She loves art and this camp was phenomenal – the exposure that she got to so many art methods, not to mention meeting wonderful new friends!” – Patrick Bourke

“My 13 son attended the Inspireland Creative Summer camp at LSAD in Limerick and just loved it as much as the last time in 2019. The atmosphere is friendly, open, inclusive and hugely creative.  He is already very much looking forward to next year.  Thank you, Stephen.” – Sheena Doyle

“It was my daughter’s first time attending the Inspireland Creative Summer Camp in Limerick. From the moment she arrived, I knew she would thoroughly enjoy the experience. She attended the camp on her own but was quickly made part of a happy group of creative children.” – Eilis Tiernan
