Irish Colleges Training Centre, founded in 2010, has been offering Further Education (Post Leaving Certificate) programmes and professional qualifications in a variety of disciplines including Accounting and Finance, Business, Hospitality, Tourism, Health & Safety, IT & Computing and more specialist construction skills-based programmes.

The centre delivers training to almost 1,200 learners each year through full-time, part-time and blended learning options and has developed a strong reputation for excellence in education provision in the Midwest Region.

Building on its founding twin principles of ambitious academic achievement and advanced practical education, they continue to develop programmes that satisfy the educational and personal development needs of the contemporary learner. Their courses are carefully designed to combine theory with hands-on, industry-relevant training, ensuring that learners graduate with both knowledge and practical competence.

They maintain strong links with industry partners and professional bodies, and this collaboration helps us to ensure the continued relevance of our programmes to today’s evolving employment market. Many of the courses are aligned with current industry standards and emerging technologies, supporting learners in gaining skills that are in high demand.

Among its specialist offerings is the internationally recognised NCFE Certificate in Introduction to Cabin Crew, to everyone in Limerick, Munster and Ireland.  The Cabin Crew programme will equip participants with the essential skills to help them take off towards their dream career in the aviation and airline industry, allowing learners to travel, discover new cultures and mix with people from all walks of life.

Current short courses include AAT Level 1, 2 and 3 bookkeeping programmes, ranging from beginner to intermediate level, as well as a one-day Level 1 Retirement Planning Made Easy course.

Retirement Planning Made Easy” is a beginner-level (Level 1) course offered by ICTC Ireland. It guides learners through the critical steps of building a sound financial plan for retirement, giving you confidence in decisions about when to retire, how to use your pension pots, and how to handle life’s curveballs like bereavement or divorce.

The AAT Certificate in Bookkeeping courses develop advanced bookkeeping skills for learners progressing from foundation level. Learners build competence in preparing financial statements and handling business tax processes – skills valued for professional bookkeeping roles or as a bridge to higher-level accountancy study.

The specialist construction-skills programmes include the Diploma in Plastering, Modern Home Maintenance Certificate, NZEB Fundamentals, NZEB for Plumbers, NZEB Electricians and NZEB School Leavers.

The Level 1 Award in NZEB Schools Fundamentals Programme is designed to introduce its’ students to the core principles and relevance of Nearly-Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) in the context of environmental sustainability and climate action. Spanning seven one-day modules, the course covers everything from the foundations of NZEB and energy-efficient building features, to renewable energy systems, building physics, and career pathways.

Level 1 Domestic Heat Pump Maintenance & Service course provides a practical and accessible foundation in domestic heat pump systems, combining essential theory with hands-on experience. Participants will explore the history, principles, and environmental benefits of heat pump technology, gaining a clear understanding of how these systems operate in the home.

Near Zero Energy Building (NZEB Plumbing) for Plumbers is designed to introduce qualified or early-career plumbers to the core principles and practical skills needed to work on NZEB-compliant buildings. The course builds a foundational understanding of energy efficiency, renewable technologies, and sustainable plumbing systems, starting from the environmental purpose of NZEB and progressing through compliance tools like DEAP, building physics, and energy services integration.

NZEB Electrical For Electricians Level 1 Award introduces electricians to the fundamental principles, benefits, and practices of Nearly-Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB). Learners gain essential knowledge of NZEB concepts, compliance requirements, building energy performance, and the role of electrical systems in creating sustainable, energy-efficient buildings.

The Level 1 Award in Modern Home Maintenance is an introductory course designed for adults aged 18-65 with no prior experience. It provides practical skills and essential knowledge for maintaining a modern home safely and efficiently. Over five one-day modules, learners gain hands-on experience in plumbing, electrics, home repair, tool use, and sustainability.

In addition, They offer a state-of-the-art computer-based examination centre available to both students and the general public, alongside additional academic support and learning resources when required. ICTC provides each student with a diverse education in a safe, supportive environment that promotes self-discipline, motivation and excellence in learning. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
