The Limerick Qualifiers of Irish Youth Music Awards 2019 take place this Friday
Limerick’s young musicians are invited to take part in the regional qualifiers of the Irish Youth Music Awards 2019 at Limerick Youth Service’s Lava Javas Youth Café, Lr. Glentworth St, Limerick this Friday, March 15, from 5:30 to 8 pm.
The competition is open to young singer-songwriters, bands and groups, between the ages of thirteen and eighteen years, from all musical genres, with the winners representing Limerick at the National Finals at Croke Park, Dublin on Saturday, May 11.
The Irish Youth Music Awards (IYMAs) are a youth work programme delivered by Youth Work Ireland. It is a great opportunity for young musicians and those interested in all aspects of the music industry, from on-stage to behind the scenes, to gain experience of the live music scene.
John Real, from Limerick Youth Service, said, ‘We’re keen to hear from acts from across Limerick who are interested in taking part in the regional qualifier.’
‘The IYMAs is more of group work and development project rather than a ‘simply the best’ competition – so all levels are welcome for the regional qualifier,’ said John, Youth Worker at Lava Javas.
Limerick has a great youth music scene and has enjoyed great success at previous IYMAs with local group Elenay a previous winner.
‘The local qualifier is the perfect platform to showcase the young musical talent that the city and county has,’ John added.
Interested parties are asked to contact John at [email protected] or at 061-412444.
The Irish Youth Music Awards is a national programme developed by Youth Work Ireland and is supported by RTE 2FM.
Lava Javas is a dedicated youth café and home to an active live youth music scene with many well-known acts such as Animal Beats, starting their careers at the popular venue.
A member of Youth Work Ireland, Limerick Youth Service remains committed to connecting with young people and supporting them to reach their full potential.
