The performance is a culmination of the choir’s 2017 course and explores a millennium of celebrating Mary, through settings sacred and secular.

‘Maria’ follows the Irish Youth Training Choir’s last summer performance entitled ‘Make Our Garden Grow’ which was held on July 2nd. ‘Make Our Garden Grow’ explored the remarkable life of Nadia Boulanger, perhaps the greatest music teacher that ever lived.

The Irish Youth Choir is the only dedicated national youth choir that offers training opportunities for young singers from all over Ireland.

The Irish Youth Choir meets annually for a main intensive rehearsal course in the summer under the expert tuition of the Artistic Director, Greg Beardsell, and a team of tutors and vocal coaches

The establishment of the Irish Youth Training Choir was a long held ambition of the Association of Irish Choirs and was seen as a significant gap in the national provision of choral education for the 14 – 17-year-old age group.

Having successfully run the Irish Youth Choir for over 30 years the inaugural Irish Youth Training Choir course was held at the University of Limerick during the summer of 2014. The course was greeted with enormous enthusiasm and support and led to the continuation of the course annually since.

In 2016, Eunan McDonald was appointed as conductor of the Irish Youth Training Choir. Eunan brings a wealth of experience and a strong artistic vision for the future of the role.

Tickets can be purchased from the University Concert Hall at 061 331549 or online at www.uch.ie Join the ever-burgeoning Irish Youth Training Choir, now in its 4th year, to celebrate all things, Mary.
