Returning to Limerick’s Milk Market this Sunday, November 17, the Ivory Elephant Market brings its largest lineup of vendors yet along with the market’s regular showing of vintage stores.

Event organisers said, “The Milk Market historically is known for its famous Saturday market packed with food, crafts, vintage clothes, baked goods and it’s overall just a great day out. What most people don’t know is that the perimeter shops where we, Whack Vintage are situated, are open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.”

On Sundays across the calendar, there are events such as record fairs, antiques fairs, and more recently “The Ivory Elephant Market” with Whack Vintage saying they would have called it ‘White Elephant Market’ “but unfortunately that Instagram handle was taken”.

Commenting on the market’s goal to uplift and put small Irish businesses in the spotlight, the founder said, “From our popups around the country and having seen so many amazing young people starting businesses we thought it would be great to start a Sunday Market to showcase all these brands,” they said.

And since its foundation, the market has grown along with the companies it supports, saying, “Since starting on March 16th 2023, we have really seen the event grow with brands such as Ecclesia, Final Bend, Pellador, Fior jewellery, Kit Launch, 35 Vintage and many more coming to pitch up at the Milk Market!”

The Ivory Elephant Market will feature vintage clothing, streetwear, and food stalls.

Other unique offerings include handmade soaps by Glanus Soap, crochet crafts from Maisie’s Room and E & K Crochet, and even tarot readings by Tricia O’Connor. The event also highlights Irish streetwear brands like Split Rock Surf Club from Sligo and Home Clotheswear.

A full list of vintage stores taking part in the event include Vintage Free Spirit, 88 Vintage, Sunday Best Vintage, Christine’s Bargains, Whack Vintage, All Things Second Hand, Em Lou Studio, Golazzo Vintage Football Jerseys, and Little Unicorn Vintage.

Jewellery brands will feature Ivys Attic (Cork), and Limerick’s Fíor Jewellery, while food and baked goods stalls on the day will include Ah Goodies, Free of Gluten (F.O.G), and John’s Preserves.

Irish Streetwear stores on the day will see Split Rock Surf Club (Sligo) and Home Clotheswear, with crochet stalls made up of Maisie’s Room and E & K Crotchet. Crafts stalls will see Creative Kikidee and Meerkat & Yarn on the day with other brands featuring Glitzi Bitz – Womenswear, Tricia O’Connor – Tarot Card Readings, Perfect Scent – Custom Perfumes, Glanus Soap – Handmade 100% natural organic soap, Anja Kolic Photography, and Blend & Go Co – Hand Held Blenders.

Speaking about future plans, the Whack Vintage founder said, “Our next event is taking place on 17th November and we have our largest amount of vendors ever. We are hoping people will come to give this new event a chance and support all our wonderful vendors! They will be coming from all over the country from Donegal to Cork! We look forward to continuing to add to the event and to give small Irish brands an even bigger platform going into the future.”
