Limerick woman Jackie Kennedy will incredibly be undergoing a skydive in memory of her father Niall Kennedy after his devastating passing last July 2020. Heartbreak struck for Jackie last year when the Kennedy family tragically lost Niall Kennedy to a brain aneurysm on July 17, 2020.

Jackie Kennedy and her partner have set up the campaign in loving memory of her father Niall. A GoFundMe page has been set up with the intention of Jackie and her partner undergoing a skydive to raise funds for their chosen charity Headway.

The goal of this skydive is to secure vital, much-needed funds for Headway, a support group for families who are unfortunately in similar situations.

Headway is a registered Irish charity, founded in 1985 and located in Willaim Street Limerick, Cork and Dublin. Headway thrives to support adults over the age of eighteen who are living with a brain injury.

According to Headway, “We were founded in 1985 as a support group by families and interested professionals to address the needs of people with brain injuries and their carers and families. Since then, we have grown, and now provide a range of community-based rehabilitation support services and information for people affected by brain injury, whatever the severity of the injury. Collaboration is a strong feature of our approach, and we work in a multidisciplinary way, linking where necessary with resources or people with specialist skills not available within Headway. We take a lead in advocating for better sharing of resources, information and expertise both between voluntary agencies and between the voluntary and statutory services.”

Speaking on the event, Jackie said “My dad lost his life to a brain aneurysm and was taken from us without a goodbye. Myself and my partner will be doing a skydive to raise funds for Headway a charity that assists all brain injuries patients, research and support. My partner has also lost his aunt 10 years ago to this quick and hard to detect illness. RIP Dad.”

Jackie poignantly added, “I hope to make him proud, and this money will hopefully save someone else the heartache in the future of losing someone they love. Thank you!”

Well done to Jackie on this amazing initiative, we would like to wish her the very best of luck from everyone at I Love Limerick.
