JCI Limerick Event Highlights the Power of Communication, Connection and Mental Wellbeing

JCI Limerick brought professionals, community leaders and emerging leaders together for an engaging and thought-provoking event

Junior Chamber Ireland (JCI) Limerick recently brought together professionals, community leaders and emerging leaders for an engaging and thought-provoking event focused on communication, mental wellbeing and human connection in an increasingly digital world.

Held at The Boardroom, 101 Limerick, the event featured expert speakers, interactive learning and meaningful discussion, providing attendees with practical tools to strengthen communication skills, foster resilience and build stronger personal and professional relationships.

The event opened with a welcome from JCI Limerick President Denis Hardi, who spoke about the importance of creating spaces where people can learn, connect and grow together.

Speaking after the event, JCI Limerick President Denis Hardi reflected on the significance of the afternoon’s discussions.

He said, “Today JCI Limerick hosted an event that reminded all of us why conversations about men’s mental health matter — and why leadership is not just about responsibility, but about humanity, vulnerability and connection. As a newly re-established chapter, this was one of our first major events, and I could not be prouder of the atmosphere created in the room: open, honest, supportive and deeply human.”

Hardi noted that the event embodied JCI Limerick’s commitment to developing leaders while fostering meaningful dialogue on issues that impact communities, workplaces and families alike.

The event featured philosopher and AI lecturer James Cussen, who explored the evolving relationship between artificial intelligence and human connection, and Cillian Keane of Mental Health Ireland, who delivered an insightful presentation on mental wellbeing, resilience and the importance of open conversations.

Attendees also participated in an interactive LEGO® communication workshop facilitated by Michelle Daly Hayes, where teams explored communication styles, collaboration and problem-solving through hands-on challenges designed to strengthen understanding.

Speaking after the event, facilitator Michelle Daly Hayes said, “Communication is about far more than words. Through creative, hands-on activities we can better understand how people think, interpret information and collaborate. It was fantastic to see participants embracing the challenge, sharing ideas and building stronger connections with one another.”

The event reflects JCI Limerick’s ongoing commitment to developing young professionals and future leaders through learning, community engagement and personal development opportunities.
