Jimmy O’Byrne has been appointed Chair of the Association of Irish Choirs
The Association of Irish Choirs is delighted to announce that Jimmy O’Byrne has been appointed Chair of the Association. Jimmy brings a wealth of experience with him as an actor, singer, director and educator. He also has a keen interest in choral music and has conducted many choirs over the years. He is currently the conductor of the CanBelto Ladies Choir, YouFour and The Accapella Fellas and the Song and Dance Kids Glee Choir. Jimmy is also director of the Song and Dance stage school, based in Baldoyle, Dublin.
On his appointment as Chair of the Association of Irish Choirs, Jimmy O’Byrne said: “I am delighted and honoured to be chair of the Association at this very exciting time in our history, as we complete compliance with the Governance Code and launch our new Youth Initiative.”
Mr O’Byrne has served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Irish Choirs since 2012 and brings a strong understanding of the organisation’s strategic aims and plans to the role.
The Association of Irish Choirs has been working on governance over the past number of years and is delighted to sign up to compliance with the Governance Code, A Code of Practice for Good Governance of Community, Voluntary and Charitable Organisations in Ireland. In signing up to compliance with the Code the Association of Irish Choirs renews its commitment to transparency and best practice.
The AOIC have also, in the interests of good governance, appointed a vice-chairperson in Alan Kelly, a communications professional and choral conductor from Kildare.
