Limerick’s bikini queen Judy Fitzgerald had her heart set on representing Ireland on the world stage this year at the World Beauty Fitness and Fashion (WBFF) Pro – International Next Level World Tour.

For this upcoming competition Judy stuck to her diet and training plan while working full time as a Midwife on the frontline during the pandemic.

The WBFF (World Beauty Fitness and Fashion) offer the Best of the Best in Muscle Model, Figure Model, Diva Bikini Model, Diva Fitness Model, Male Fitness Model, as they compete for the richest title in the sport earning “Pro Status”. The WBFF, the worldwide leader in fitness and modelling, strives for international recognition as an industry leader by providing the best opportunities for contestants and models to compete and effectively promoting health and fitness. When the WBFF world finals were cancelled twice earlier this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic she thought she would be unable to compete. After putting in so much work training every day and following a very strict dietary plan, she thought it would all have been for nothing. Judy Fitzgerald competes

Fortunately, Judy was able to compete virtually in her country colours of green, white and gold. This was despite the country going into Level 5 lockdown, which meant that gyms, hair salons and beauty rooms all closed. Judy said, “When the Government announced that the country would be going into a Level 5 lockdown for six weeks, it made my preparation for the world finals very challenging, but I worked hard training at home and checked in regularly with my fitness coach online to make sure I was meeting my target weight. I also did my own hair, make up etc on the day.”  Judy Fitzgerald competes

Judy is an amazing lady, having earned a degree in nursing from UCC and a post graduate degree in Midwifery in UL, and also a degree in exercise and health fitness from UL. On top of becoming a nurse and fitness instructor, Judy is a lifeguard.  In 2019 she was encouraged to enter the Miss Irish European Fitness Model Championships by her coach and former Mr Ireland bodybuilding champion James “Blue” Shinners, who passed away unexpectedly shortly before and to honour him she wore a blue bikini. Judy had a record-breaking day  Championships in Dublin and walked away with four European titles, coming first in all of the categories that she entered. This was Judy’s first time entering the championships. She entered four categories and won each of them, becoming: Miss First Timers, Miss Beach Body, Miss Bikini, and she is also now the overall European Fitness Model Champion for 2019. The annual fitness contest took place at the ALSAA Centre in Dublin and had both men and women competing in various categories. They were judged on both their physique and stage presence.
