Limerick’s bikini queen Judy Fitzgerald is delighted to announce that she will be representing Ireland in the European Championships of the World Beauty Fitness and Fashion (WBFF) show in London this Saturday, November 6 at the O2 in London.

It has been 2 years since Judy has stepped on stage due to the pandemic, so she is thrilled to be able to put all of her preparation into practice and do her country and county proud.

Judy has had her heart set on representing Ireland on the world stage at the WBFF Pro-International Next Level Tour in Vegas, but unfortunately, she was unable to travel at the time due to the travel ban.

She had to compete virtually as the WBFF world finals were cancelled twice due to the Covid-19 pandemic. After putting in so much work training every day, following a very strict diet, practicing her posing routine, and having her outfits custom made and designed all while working full time on the frontline, she thought it would all be for nothing.

Judy said, “When the Government announced that the country would be going into a Level 5 lockdown for six weeks, it made my preparation for the world finals very challenging, but I worked hard training at home and checked in regularly with my fitness coach online to make sure I was meeting my target weight. I also did my own hair, make-up, etc on the day.”

Judy is a force to be reckoned with, having earned a degree in nursing from UCC and a post-graduate degree in Midwifery and a degree in exercise and health fitness from UL. As well as becoming a nurse and fitness instructor, Judy is also a lifeguard.

In 2019 she was encouraged to enter the Miss Irish European Fitness Model Championships by her coach and former Mr. Ireland bodybuilding champion James “Blue” Shinners, who passed away unexpectedly shortly before the championships. To honour him, she wore a blue bikini.

Judy had a record-breaking day at the Championships in Dublin and walked away with four European titles, coming first in all of the categories that she entered. This was Judy’s first time entering the championships. She entered four categories and won each of them, becoming: Miss First Timers, Miss Beach Body, Miss Bikini, and the overall European Fitness Model Champion for 2019. The annual fitness contest took place at the ALSAA Centre in Dublin and had both men and women competing in various categories. They were judged on both their physique and stage presence

The WBFF (World Beauty Fitness and Fashion) offer the Best of the Best in Muscle Model, Figure Model, Diva Bikini Model, Diva Fitness Model, Male Fitness Model, as they compete for the richest title in the sport earning “Pro Status”. The WBFF, the worldwide leader in fitness and modeling, strives for international recognition as an industry leader by providing the best opportunities for contestants and models to compete and effectively promote health and fitness.
