Limerick City’s Droppin’ Bombs thanks to singer songwriter Julianne Hennelly
Limerick based singer songwriter Julianne Hennelly has released her new single ‘Droppin’ Bombs’ featuring Feat LA Halvey Bass & Social Harmonies. The song is produced by the amazing Cillian O Dalaigh and the celtic sounds are accompanied by psychedelic visuals shot in Limerick. The video is super vibrant and really shows Limerick as the beautiful city it is, electric with community spirit and was directed by Naoimi Kathreen O’ Neil.
Julianne said, “We got a beautiful day for it and captured some of the group at Social Harmonies, a community music project I’ve been involved with since lockdown. We’d meet every Saturday in Arthur’s Quay Park and jam in the open air.
Droppin’ Bombs was requested every week, people really connected with the song and it’s super catchy. It was a very organic collaboration, ex Eurovision Limerick Lady Lesley Ann Halvey plays bass on the track. Thanks to everyone in Social Harmonies, they are the most supportive, loving gang!”
Julianne has toured Ireland with The Dirty Circus, Cabaret and Comedy, since 2011. Featured in Electric Picnic, Julianne released her EP, Psychosis last year. She played Dolans Warehouse 2016 and settled in Limerick since then, hosting open mics, co found Dreams, celebrating the life of Dolores O Riordan and has worked closely with marginalised groups in the city through her community arts projects.
A bit crazy.. I am the eldest of 5 children, we ran family pubs and there was always drama! I was quiet but always felt comfortable on stage. I loved everything about it, costume, painting sets, rehearsing, the excitement of it all. I got my first role in primary school, Snow White. I had some great teachers who nurtured art, music and love of nature. This shaped me today and led me to Limerick. I graduated from Limerick School of Art & Design in 2007 and have a Masters in Community Music, UL, 2018.
It’s hard to switch off, there is a lot of uncertainty.
I wrote the song nearly 3 years ago, on Clancy Strand where it was recently produced by Cillian O Dalaigh. It’s amazing how songs take new meanings over time. People will have different interpretations, I suppose it’s a protest against corruption and human suffering.
The King himself, Elvis Presley, I love gospel and rock n roll. Freddie Mercury, passion and theatrical performances. The Gossip, Beth Ditto STANDING IN THE WAY OF CONTROL!!! Dolores O Riordan, how she connects so many people and continues to spread hope and inspiration to all of us in Limerick and around the world.

Be authentic, sing from the heart and write from your soul.
There would be a greater platform for independent artists on mainstream media. Many young artists are over worked and exploited to breaking point. I think we need to have more compassion for artists and how much they contribute, support them directly.
See all my friends and family and when it’s ok again I’m goin’ to hug absolutely everyone!!!
I see myself on stage, on screen and with great company in beautiful surroundings doing what I love.
Everything!! the people, community spirit and stunning views.
I love it’s vibrancy, history and arts culture. I love canal cycles, Bruff, colleges, Costellos, Carnahalla, Grange Stone Circle, Crokers Farm, Lough Gur, Milk Market, King John’s Castle, Kilmallock.. thank you Limerick for all the good times, I LOVE YOU x
