Michelle said, “I am thrilled to be involved in this fantastic competition. Now more than ever, making environmentally conscious fashion choices is important. With Junk Kouture, we are inviting the high-fashion designers of the future to fashion incredibly creative ensembles entirely from recyclable materials and I cannot wait to see what the talented students of Ireland bring it to the stage of the 3Arena next spring”.

This year, with climate change awareness being particularly high, the competition’s emphasis on recycling is more relevant than ever.

Louis Walsh said, “I love this competition, the students are unbelievable, and I cannot wait to see what talent is on offer this year as we mark the tenth anniversary. Reuniting with Michelle will be a lot of fun as we search for the next Junk Kouture young designer.”

Junk Couture 2020 combines fashion, engineering, art, and environmental sustainability and transforms them into a contest like no other.

If you think you have what it takes to be crowned Junk Kouture’s next King/ Queen, then it’s time to start foraging through your junk and rubbish to create the next best thing for this year’s “Upcycled Runway”.

Secondary school students from the five regions North, South, East, South East, and West are once again invited to enter this year’s competition.

Teachers can register their schools to participate from today, October 1 until Friday, November 1, 2019, while students hoping to take part should work on their entry designs from now so they are ready ahead of student registration in January 2020.
