Mr. World Supports Limerick Charity in the call to Man Up Against Domestic Abuse
Mr. World Kamal Ibrahim is gearing to Man Up Against Domestic Abuse for ADAPT Domestic Abuse Services. ADAPT is asking Limerick men to join them in the stand against domestic abuse and our very own Kamal Ibrahim aka Mr. World stepped forward to be part of the campaign. Kamal is no stranger to the big stage and this December will see him take to the University Concert Hall stage for the very first time when he stars as Aladdin alongside myself, Leanne Moore and Twink. As the panto is proudly supporting ADAPT Services, Kamal wanted to be part of what he felt was a very important cause. “I was raised in a family where I was taught how important it is to respect and value women and I am very honoured to be part of this campaign,” he tells me.
Laura Bohan of ADAPT Services explains, “Many men see domestic abuse as a women’s issue but women alone cannot change the tide of this epidemic which is sweeping our country and affects the lives of countless women and children as 1 in 5 women will experience abuse in their lifetime.“
There are many ways in which you can support the campaign. Arrange a talk for your group; organize a photo shoot of your group wearing the Man Up t-shirts and wristbands. The photos can be uploaded to the ADAPT Facebook page and shared on the National Man Up page.
ADAPT also wants to highlight the good guys out there through our Man Up Hero campaign on Facebook. “We are looking for people to nominate the men in their lives who make the world a better place for women and children. If you would like to show your appreciation for a dad, partner, brother, son or friend who is an everyday hero email a picture and a short paragraph to [email protected] or alternatively check out ADAPT Services on Facebook.
You can see Kamal in Aladdin opening for schools on December 17 and for general audiences on December 20with tickets starting just €16.50. For further details or to book your Aladdin tickets, contact the University Concert Hall box office at 061 331549 or log onto HERE.
