Karen, who signed a three-book deal with Poolbeg Press in July 2023, say delving into the world of Lana Bowen “has been a roller coaster ever since”.

Speaking with I Love Limerick at the launch of her second book in 2025, Karen said that when she created her, she thought “this girl is really interesting” and knew there was more to come.

Karen told I Love Limerick, “She just kind of came to me one night, and I just thought, ‘this girl is really interesting.’ As a character, I just felt that she had a lot of depth in the first book, ‘The World’s End’, and I wasn’t finished with her. I wanted to kind of develop her a little bit more. They are standalone novels, but we do get to experience Lana’s journey from book one, book two, and then into book three, and maybe book four… Hopefully.”

Tell The Truth is a story about justice, secrecy, and the dangerous price of telling the truth. A truth that could set someone free — or destroy everything.

Marion McMahon is a woman awaiting trial for the murder of her husband. She hides a secret that could clear her name — yet she refuses to speak. Because, somehow, prison is a safer place to be.

Juror Stephanie Fitzgerald, trapped in a stale marriage, finds herself drawn into a risky flirtation with a fellow juror during the trial of Tadgh McMahon’s murder. But jurors are meant to judge the truth — not become part of the story.

When PI Lana Bowen is asked by an ex-colleague to speak to Marion, she senses something is deeply wrong. As she digs deeper, Lana must decide how far she is willing to go — and what she is willing to risk — to uncover the truth. TELLING THE TRUTH could destroy something — or someone.
